A Dog Of A Story
by Henry Mason

The late Mike O'Hara, SJO drummer for many years, told musician stories with the best of them. Most of them were true and all of them were funny. Many came from his days with one of the great college dance bands, the Alabama Cavaliers.

One of Mike's Cavalier stories dealt with the time the bus company got hesitant about renting a bus to the band. Since they always paid on time and didn't leave a lot of trash on the bus, Mike as business manager for the band was somewhat surprised at the hesitation. "It's the artwork Mr. O'hara", explained the bus company rep, "the alterations to our logo have attracted the attention of management and they are not happy!"

The Dog Additional investigation revealed the true cause of the problem.

It seems that every time the Cavaliers rented a Greyhound, one of the more artistic band members took it upon himself to alter the Greyhound on the side of the bus...actually the dog became UNaltered...which is to say anatomically correct...a really big one! As luck would have it the bus would come in on saturday night from a band job, with a charter for a ladies church group the next day...and the veil of charity is drawn over the final act of this scene.
